Summer Learning Journey



LI: To create a piece of insect art

This week for this activity we did was make the insect art with things on the ground I was  Inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue we went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images. I found it quite hard to found things to my insect because I couldn't found a insect to creat I enjoyed it because like the insect that I made I also like it because it looks .


Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Activity 3

LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.



This activity was about reading the story about the fishey false teeth and wrote the information about and then we did the comic strip it shows the conversation I imagine these two people had after one of the men had sneezed his teeth into the sea during a fishing trip. The other man was the one prank the man by gaching the fish and put his teeth in the fish .I we did was put the are own to my comic . I found this activity funny and weird because it was that man was gachting the fish and put the teeth in the fish then other man was put the teeth in his mouth .

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 activity 1



LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning LS2 worked in groups with our Year 4 students to help them create their first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding some of the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be able to find all the materials we need at home now.

Digital Board Game


LI: To create a digital board game for juniors
This week we designed digital board games with a Christmas theme to play with the junior students. To play the game successfully they will need to read and follow the instructions, then use their counting skills to move around the board. Today we showed our Year 4 students we showed them how to make there own digital game .In my game the have santas that you can move 5 steps forward and the present that you move 3 step forward the reindeer moves backward 5 step and the candy you miss a turn when you land on it.

Operation Christmas Drop



LI: To write a summary of the story behind the Operation Christmas Drop in you own words
 
This week for research we learn about the operation christmas drop.For the last 68 years the men and women of the US air force who are based at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam have been using a pilot training drill to drop much needed supplies to the people who live on the 60 remote islands that surround Guam. Operation Christmas Drop allows the people living in these remote islands to sustain a better life and the communities to flourish.I think these missions are a great way to help others and make a difference in peoples lives. The people living in these remote areas are extremely grateful and are able to continue to live on the islands.

Decoration the tree




LI: To decorate the office christmas tree 

Today we put are decoration on the christmas tree. Our Design Technology challenge was to create a set of Christmas and Holiday decorations that represented our school and the people in it. We were given a design brief from Mr Johnston and a delivery date. To celebrate the end of this challenge LS2 delivered their completed decorations to Mr Johnston, then hung them on the tree in our school office.

Christmas Decorations

 Making decoration for the school christmas tree .


The past few weeks we were making  decoration to dricact the  tree .The first step we did was  chose what design  we wanted to chose .The ones that we chose form was christmas,hunakai ,eid and diwali .The second step was to making the decoration on the paper that was a  draft and then we made the real one  on the black paper.The third step is to cut the disson on then but the cut pice  on the flute and cut it out on top of the fult .After that we cut out the pise that we need to on the design that we want .The 4 step to sewn the design on the flute to make a shape and then  after swen all them on we sewn them together

Art Colouring Book - Step it up challenge

 LI: To use TEEL paragraphs to explain our colour choice

Art has many  different forms made up of several elements 


My picture of Woman combing her hair by Goyō Hashiguchi. By choosing lots of colour to make the flows bright the shirt. I found the right look that fits in the bright tone in the flow and shirt . In the picture  my hair was very light then I changed it to make it look real .


The real  picture one was a cold colour then when I changed to a bright colour to make it look like a real  picture. I made my picture bright and cold at the same time she was thinking about something she saw  something like  a rat or a cat or others.


My picture between the real one is that the real one is more sad and manie is something of something thinking and seeing the nast in the hair. The art element all around the picture in the hair on the shirt and the flowers.


Last week I completed the Step it Up art challenge from the Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to explain our colour choice using the language and vocabulary we learnt from watching the information video. I used the TEEL paragraph structure to help me explain my thinking.

Tech

 Today is are last week of tech  we make share  we sea weed on the roaling mat to get a good cicle. The frist step is to put the chicken in and break it a part and the pans in the chicken and slate in the mixer and the chili sauce in side . I but the rice in the bowl and mash it with the sarly and we but the rice in the seed weed first we wet are hand then but the rice the sead weed to fel our the thing .After puting the rice the sea weed then but the chicken on the rice the we roal it and then cut up it up in to 8 pieces in each.

Art Coloring Book




LI: To experiment with colours 

This morning we tried one of this year’s Kick Start Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allows us to recolour famous paintings or images of landmarks around the world. The picture I chose was Woman combing her hair Goyō Hashiguchi. They colours that I chose was was bring the colours out and showed the work out . On the left is the ordgel and on the right is my own one with my colours .

Te Whanau Raukara Performance


 Today  Te Whanau Raukara had performed  at Auckland museum and came here to show the meaning behind the elements in moari culture and how the used then in the days .The thing that I found interesting was how the used the hoan to started the performance  I didn't know that you used the hoan .After the performance Bekah used 4 poi too show us and then taught us how to play pukana it was so fun to play the games .The thing that I found interesting is that the stike had the sharp sade  at the end and up it has the face that looks scare and the hair .

Exploring our National Current Events


LI: To identify author’s purpose.
For reading we did These reasons are to persuade, inform or entertain (PIE). Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make desicions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. I found insteing was when they flood in napier was giving over 100 homes unsuitable for living in. I  collaboratived with Victora, Vayan and Florence .

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?

 LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.



My DLO above shows why we should wear masks on compulsory in Nz Public Transport and why. My DLO is also about understanding why wear masks are compulsory in Nz Public Transports and why not?. This DLO was Collaborated with Liletina and Lily. We wrote are opinions yes,our opinion and No then we explan why .My opinion was yes we should wear a mask on public transport because I don't want to get sick and having to go in to lockdown again .

Maths

 LI: To explain our stragegy.

The week for Maths we did maths question  about weighs  and than we explain how to explain how to get it . The stragegy that i did was changelle one and the question was How much did the white sauce and tomato sauce weigh? We as a group showed how to explain it . The answer that we got was 4865Kg by adding 2500kg +800kg + 400kg +100kg+100kg +3900kg +965kg

For this active we were doing the main ideas in this peom the embarrassment. This poem is about how to deal with embarrasment it show the ways that you can't be  embarrass.The 2 things to do is laugh and the stop sign . The most interesting thing that I have found was when you embarrass  you can do is laugh and keep laughing .

Why is it important to use our PBS Care values



LI: To write an explanation using TEEL paragraphs


This week we have been revisiting explanation writing. Next week is our assessment week so we did this collaborative challenge to remind ourselves what is needed when we write explanations. I have been working with Hosea and lily on our explanation about our PBS care values Confidence , Attitude , Respect and Excellence and Innovation we have witten 4 paragraphs of teel to every care value and teel stands for Topic sentence , Explain , Evidence and Link . Me , Hosea and lily use all of our opinion to come up with 4 paragraphs for teel that represents each PBS care values and we have made an screencastify about our 16 paragraphs of our care values , something i found interesting about writing about an explanation is being able to understand .

law of Inertia | reading

  LI: To create a DLO explaing the Law of Inertia. 

This week for reading we have been continuing with science. For this session we were learning the Law of Inertia. The Law of Inertia connects to physics in science. In groups we created a DLO explaining what the Law of Inertia is and who created it. Isaac Newton was the person who found out and created the Law of Inertia. I collaborated with Leroy, Fau, Karlos and Matthew to complete this DLO. Isaac Newton made 3 laws:

Law of Direction
Law of Motion

Why is it important to make wise choices?


Plastic Pollution: How many plastics have you thrown into the sea?


As a result of people not caring about the animals they are dying because of your dissenting and how you react. When you drop your rubbish pollution on the ground they would go into the grans and into the water and stay there while sea animals eat the plastic. They mistake food and eat them.


Look at the sea animals that have plastic inside them; they have croquet in or stuck their nose and end up on the beach. If they don't eat them it will stay there for a long time like a thousand years it won't go anywhere and still you stop dropping the rubbish.



You can stop this by don't dropping the plastic. You won't have a problem if you don't do this, so If you want to eat seafood that has rubbish. But if you're aware that this happens then you can help by don't dropping the rubbish.

Yesterday LS2 made a explanation about drugs and plastic pollution a dissuade to choice plastic pollution We started with with retclah question and started to write the story about it.I but powerful words in side the story. It shows people that they can change there mand and how think of forcing the plastic on the ground.

LI: To decide which political party will get your vote by making an informed choice.
 This week we decide which political party I would vote for I read a summary of the policies each party wants to introduce should they win the election and the right to form a government to run NZ. Doing this allowed me to make an informed decision.If I was 18 I would vote for Labour because they are helping us with healthy . This means if labour Won the election in my electorate they would be our member of parliament and would become the Prime Minister.I found interning was when your at 18 you're old athen to vote.

DARE Programme

 



For the past few weeks LS2 has been doing the DARE program. The DARE program has been used at our school for many years. It is used to teach young kids how to cross the road and older kids about life choices and how to avoid drugs. We learnt that some drugs can be good for us (Prescribed by doctors). For example Asthma Inhalers, those are good for asthmatics as it is a medical need for people who run out of breath.We created a DLO that explains what we did, what the DARE program is, and answers to some questions. For this DLO I have worked with Florence to get it completed. We enjoyed this as we were able to learn about the right and wrong of drugs.

Food Technology




Today for tech ms hake toot us how to making corn fritter and the ingredients and then we mix  the eggs and  mike  very hard and then add the flow to the wet add insetting in till it is has no laps in the batter  then we add the corn and put it on the pan and cook it .We put the sailed with sours and then corn fritters and some chill sure on top it looks good and taste good.

Last week lS2 have done the sunflowers that vin van gogh we learned lots about vin van gogh .We learned what  we can see  .The first step was to draw the ref drawing then we were painting the ref drawing then we started to do the real drawing .We did was make the shape then we shade the colours together .This sunflower are very famous.

Food Technology fried rice




 Today for tech the year 8 were cooking fried rice are food tech teacher was miss heke .We were into a partner .The first partner was cuting up all the vegetable like the onion , carrot and red caption.The second partner was cuting up the chicken , taking miserments of soy sauce sweet chilli sauce .Then we were making them by strating out puting the onion then the carrot and red caption .Then we put the  chicken inside the pot then rice we put the sauce in put and then we ate it.

Duffy books in school


 Today  LS2 were given Duffy books in school. The book are very interesting  to reading . The one that   I have was  lily the littlest angel, the babysitter club.  They  inspire us to read more so I choose these  books. I thank DBIS for my books and giving other students their books.They encourage us kids to read more.They are very interesting for me that's why I got them.I am looking forward to reading the baby sitter club book.
